In Profile: Fox finds fulfillment in Ag Council leadership, Collegiate FFA
With both of her parents working on ranches in West Texas, being involved in agriculture seemed second nature to Adeline Fox. The Alpine native said agriculture is a part of her heritage, and she has a deep respect for the working men and women who provide us with food and clothing.
"I want to take a proactive approach to agriculture because I think agriculture needs more people defending it for the future," Fox said.
Active in FFA throughout high school, Fox, the senior agricultural communications major said it was only natural to continue participating in leadership activities when she came to Texas Tech. In addition to serving as president of the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow in the 2010-2011 school year, Fox has been active in Collegiate FFA. This year, she serves as secretary for Ag Council.
"I have been involved with Ag Council since I was a freshman," Fox explained, "so becoming part of the officer team has always been something I have worked toward. I wanted to become more involved with other departments in CASNR besides my own."
Fox said she and her team have worked to develop a slate of ideas and improvements to better the organization, and encourages other students to join Ag Council, even if it means getting out of their comfort zone and trying something new.
"Ag Council does a great job of bringing completely opposite organizations into the same playing field and bringing agriculture of any genre together, which is why it has always been so appealing to me," Fox said. Now, due to her participation in the CASNR Congressional Internship program, Fox said she's considering a career in policymaking and ag law upon graduation.
