Top academic standouts from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources were recognized as 2011-2012 Dean's Scholars on Friday (Feb. 10) at the Merket Alumni Center. The awards, funded by various donations to the college, are based on academic excellence as well as leadership, character and citizenship.

"These scholarships were established by the college to reward academic excellence and to support studious young men and women who choose to major in agricultural and natural sciences," said Michael Galyean, Interim Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

There are two separate awards, he added. The Gold Award is a $14,400 four-year scholarship and the Silver Award is a $9,600 four-year scholarship. To keep the scholarship, recipients must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average for Gold Awards and a 3.3 grade-point average for Silver Awards.
