More than 1, 300 Texas Tech students, including 39 from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, received diplomas at the university's commencement ceremonies Saturday (Aug. 11) at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock.

During the event, outstanding students carried banners representing their respective colleges. Clay Burson, an animal science major from Abilene, represented CASNR. Administrators selected the banner bearers based on all-around achievement. Burson was also the highest ranking August graduate for the college.

Graduation recipients from the individual departments and majors included:

Commencement speaker for the morning program was Jim Angle, chief national correspondent for Fox News Channel. He was named to this position in January. Previously, Angle served as FNC's chief White House correspondent reporting on overall political news from Washington, D.C., as well as broader issues, including social security and tax reform.

Prior to joining FNC, he was a correspondent at CNN, covering politics and the economy. Before that, he served as a correspondent for ABC News, reporting on economic policy and contributing to "World News Tonight," "Nightline" and "Good Morning America."
