From the time she was a little girl on her parent's ranch to when she joined the FFA in high school, agriculture has been one of Krysti Kelley's biggest passions. Today, she continues that targeted focus as president of Texas Tech's Ag Council.

"I ran for Ag Council because I truly believe the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources is the best college on campus," said the junior from Texas Tech's Department of Agricultural Education and Communication. The Mission-native was first involved in Ag Council by serving as a representative for Ambassadors for Agriculture.

During her upcoming term Kelley would like to implement new activities and opportunities for CASNR students. "I believe that by bringing our students closer together, we can make our college even better," she said. Among the activities of Ag Council are Ag Fest, Ag Olympics, Ag Awareness Week, Homecoming Breakfast, Pig Roast, Ag-in-the-Bag, and the U-Can-Share Food Drive, along with several member organization volunteer projects.

Kelley encourages students to get involved in Ag Council. "College isn't all about what you learn in the classroom," she said. "It's also about the relationships and connections you make, and Ag Council is a great way to meet people from all over our college."

Ag Council members include the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow; Agricultural Economics Association; Agri-Techsans; Agronomy Club; Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity; Ambassadors for Agriculture; American Society of Landscape Architects; Block & Bridle; Collegiate 4-H; and Collegiate FFA. Other members are the Food Science Club; Horticulture Society; Meat Science Association; Pi Alpha Xi; Range, Wildlife and Fisheries Club; Sigma Alpha; Society for Conservation of Biology; Student Association for Fire Ecology; Tech Collegiate Horsemen's Association; Tech Pre-Vet Society; and Tech Turf.
