Added Accessibility; Historic Agricultural Science Building gets major ADA upgrade
Texas Tech University's Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics got a significant modernization boost today (Jan. 14) with the opening a new two-level ramp on the northeast corner of the historic building. Department Chairman Phillip Johnson said the addition is part of a continuing effort to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations across the campus. The 40,000 sq.-ft. Agricultural Science Building features five classrooms, 41 offices and eight research labs. Federal officials note that the ADA has assisted millions of people with disabilities overcome and eliminate barriers in all areas of society, from schools and the workplace to housing and public transportation. For 23 years, it has been helping to create inclusive communities, where people with disabilities live independent lives and contribute in meaningful ways.
