Aggie of the Month "" February 2014
Name: Garrett Couts; Major: agricultural communications; Classification: Senior; Organization: Collegiate FFA; Hometown: Pampa; Month: February 2014
Garrett Couts, a senior agricultural communications major in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, was recently selected as the Aggie of the Month during the February Student Agricultural Council meeting. The Pampa native represents Collegiate FFA. He said he came to Texas Tech because it is a family tradition. "We bleed Red & Black in our home, and I could not imagine pursuing my academic endeavors anywhere other than Texas Tech," Couts said. "I love the atmosphere, the academic challenge and most of all the Red Raider Family." Among a list of things, Couts said his absolute favorite thing about Texas Tech and CASNR is the Red Raider family. "We are in a family, in every meaning of the word," Couts said. "There are people here who want to see you succeed, and they want to be there for you in any way that they can. You can look high-and-low for another collegiate family like this, but you will not find anyone better than TTU CASNR." Couts said he has always been encouraged to be highly involved. He quickly jumped into several organizations in CASNR and has loved every minute of it. Couts said he is honored to be selected as the February Aggie of the Month by Ag Council. Upon graduation, Couts said he will attend Texas Tech University School of Law. He said he ultimately wants to practice agricultural law in a rural area either independently or within an agribusiness or organization.
