NRM alum Foley takes leadership post with JBS Five Rivers Cattle Feeding

A 1996 graduate of Texas Tech's Department of Natural Resources Management has been named Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for Greeley, Colo.-based JBS Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, a massive cattle feeding operation with capacity of more than 980,000 head of cattle with locations in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Idaho. John Foley officially stepped into his new post in last October.
Foley's entire career has been with the cattle feeding industry, starting out as a management trainee for the Cimarron Oklahoma feedyard in 1996. From 1996 through 2005, he progressively took on more leadership responsibility, company officials note. He began his leadership experience as a yard and manure manager, cattle manager and assistant general manager.
By 2005, Foley was general manager of XIT Feeders. In 2009, he transferred to Coronado Feeders. Within a short time, company officials noted that Foley's leadership and drive for results pushed the Coronado team to excel and achieve operational excellence. Originally from Iraan, 80 miles south of Midland, Foley received his Master of Business Administration degree from Purdue University and his bachelor's degree in range management from Tech.
