GALLERY: Crews gain ground one brick at a time on Bayer Plant Science Building

The return of clear blue skies and temperatures in the nineties opened the doors for construction crews to go full-speed ahead on laying brick. As the days passed in June, large portions of CASNR's new Bayer Plant Science Building were quickly covered with varied shades of Texas Tech's iconic tan brick. Meanwhile, inside the building, walls and windows are going in place. Separately, experts continue to tie in the new building's electrical and plumbing lines. Eric Hequet, chairman of Tech's Department of Plant and Soil Science, said the project adds 21,122 square feet of new construction, and includes 2,440 square feet of renovation and exterior upgrades to the existing home of the university's Department of Plant and Soil Science. The building project is funded by donations to Texas Tech, including lead contributions from Bayer CropScience.
