CASNR's 54th Homecoming Breakfast set for Oct. 10 in Red Raider Ballroom
Officials with Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are inviting friends from across campus and the region to the college's 54th Annual Homecoming Breakfast on Saturday (Oct. 10) at Tech's Student Union Building at 15th Street and Akron Ave. in Lubbock.
"This is an excellent opportunity to see and renew old acquaintances with graduates from all the departments," said CASNR Dean Michael Galyean.
The breakfast, which kicks-off at 8 a.m., will be held in the Red Raider Ballroom. Parking will be available in lot R-13, east of Drane Hall. Attendees can enter the lot on University Ave. and 15th St. ADA shuttles will be available. The breakfast is free; however, to offset the cost, program officials are encouraging a $10 donation.
Following breakfast, other CASNR activities include a Student-American Society of Landscape Architects tailgate inside RaiderGate. Gates open four hours prior to kick-off in the R1 parking lot, north of the CASNR Annex building (old Animal Science Building). All Landscape Architecture departmental alumni are invited to attend.
Later in the day, the Red Raiders face the Iowa State Cyclones. Visit www.texastech.com for game time and details. For football ticket information, contact the athletic ticket office at (888) GO-BIG12 or (806) 742-4412. For lodging information in Lubbock, visit www.visitlubbock.org. Separately, a block of tickets has been reserved for animal and food sciences alumni who wish to attend the football game against Iowa State on Saturday. To reserve tickets, call (806) 834-0664 or email andy.faesser@ttu.edu.
CASNR officials note that there will be several activities on tap the day before the breakfast. On Friday (Oct. 9) from 5-8 p.m. the Student-American Society of Landscape Architects will be hosting an Alumni Social at Triple J Chophouse and Brew Co. located at 1807 Buddy Holly Ave. in Lubbock. The event is come-and-go, and all Landscape Architecture departmental alumni are invited to attend.
Meantime, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday alumni, friends and supporters of the Department of Animal and Food Sciences are invited to attend the second annual Friends and Family Event in the livestock arena. Honorees will include the 2015 Hall of Fame Award winners, Meat Science Alumni Award winners, and members of several former competitive teams including the 1985, 1995, and 2005 Meat Judging Teams. The event will include music, food and fun for the whole family. To RSVP for the event, email moriah.beyers@ttu.edu by Sept. 25.
In addition, from 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday the Agricultural Education and Communications Alumni Association will be hosting an alumni reunion at the home of Dan and Linda Taylor, 19301 CR 1240, one mile west of FM 179 on FM 41 near Ropesville. The party will be come-and-go with a brief alumni association meeting following the meal. All departmental alumni and their families are invited to enjoy an evening catching up with old friends and connecting with fellow alumni. Admission is free, but a $15/plate donation is encouraged to help cover costs. To RSVP or for more information, contact (806) 742-2816 or aec_alumni@ttu.edu.
