After an intensive selection process of more than 1,000 students, the foundation provides four-year scholarships to high school seniors who have demonstrated exception leadership, character, financial need and scholastic ability.
Among the CASNR recipients were:
- John Sarchet, an animal science major from Shallowater
- Rafe Royall, an animal science major from Garden City
- Ryan Earp, a plant and soil science major from Florence
- Sarah Huerta, an animal science major from Irving
- Nicolas Rivera, a plant and soil science major from Gruver
- Carson Wienecke, an agricultural communications major from Lampasas
- Callie Hawkins, an animal science major from Canyon
The Terry Foundation was established in 1986 by Houstonians Howard and Nancy Terry out of a desire to better help young people help themselves. The foundation's goal is to strengthen the state of Texas by identifying, developing and supporting Texas high school graduates with high leadership potential. Tech's new class of 32 total members includes six valedictorians; the students have an average SAT score of 1,285 and an average ACT score of 28.
