GALLERY: Final phase of Bayer Plant Science Building features tower
The last step in the construction of CASNR's new Bayer Plant Science Building will launch in the coming weeks with the addition of a two-story tower on the northwest corner of the Goddard building. The completion of the exterior enhancement will visually tie the new and old buildings together. The first sign of the new construction arrives on Friday (Sept. 23) with the instillation of a fence around of the project. The tower, which is being built by Vaughn Construction, is scheduled for completion by the end of February. Last October CASNR marked its commitment to agricultural education and research with the official opening of the main Bayer Plant Science Building. The facility provides students with a state-of-the-art building to learn and conduct research, as well as collaborate on projects with fellow students. At a cost of $14.3 million funded from donations, including a lead gift from Bayer CropScience, the project added more than 21,000 square feet of laboratory and office space while also renovating more than 2,400 square feet of interior and exterior space in the Plant and Soil Science Building, which houses the Department of Plant and Soil Science.
