CASNR administrators, faculty meet with Texas Agriculture Commissioner

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller met with several Texas Tech College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources
administrators and faculty members on Tuesday (Aug. 22) to discuss the possibility of future collaborative projects, receive an on-the-ground
update on CASNR research program initiatives and a status report on High Plains agriculture
in general. Included in the discussion, which was held in Tech's Goddard Building,
was a review of the growth and scope of CASNR's multifaceted agricultural programs,
as well as water and irrigation challenges facing the state.
Among those CASNR leaders attending the meeting were Interim Dean Steve Fraze; Cindy Akers, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Programs; Michael Ballou, Associate Dean for Research; David Weindorf, Tech's B.L. Allen Endowed Chair of Pedology in the Department of Plant and Soil Science; Phil Johnson, Chairman and Charles Thompson Chair in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics; Rudy Ritz, Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications; and Texas Alliance for Water Conservation Project Director Rick Kellison.
