More than 40 students, staff and faculty from Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Dean's Office and the Department of Plant and Soil Science once again participated the university's annual Arbor Day festivities on Friday (Apr. 27). The event, which featured several other CASNR organizations at other campus locations, included Agricultural Education & Communications Graduate Organization; Meat Science Association; Society for Conservation Biology; and the Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architecture (SASLA). When Texas Tech first started, most of the funds went towards the buildings, but the campus was lacking its landscape. Then, in 1937, campus leaders decided to dedicate one day every spring to beautify the campus. Today the annual Arbor Day event provides participants the opportunity to work together to beautify the campus, build a sense of community and receive recognition.
