A stunning mix of colorful flowers and lush plants will be in the spotlight at a special
field day at the Texas Tech University Department of Plant and Soil Science's Plant
Trial Gardens. The event, hosted by the Ornamental Horticulture Research Group, runs
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 22) at the horticulture gardens at 3340 Main Street in Lubbock. The gardens are located
just north of the university's United Supermarkets Arena. Assisting in planning and
execution of the garden program will be Russ Plowman, an instructor of horticulture with Texas Tech's Department of Plant and Soil Science,
and Vikram Baliga, an experienced horticulturist with a strong background at the Texas A&M AgriLife
Extension Service who joined Texas Tech University Greenhouse and Gardens last spring
as greenhouse manager.
