Gallery: Spotlight on Department of Landscape Architecture WreckShop
By: Norman Martin
Faculty and students within Texas Tech's Department of Landscape Architecture welcomed
guests and friends to its three-day WreckShop 2022 conference this week. More than
two dozen landscape architecture firms from across Texas and beyond were part of the
program that featured a series of networking, professional development, and collaborative
opportunities, as well as a student portfolio review.
Another on-campus opportunity for visitors were tours of a $1.7 million renovation of the Ag Pavilion that houses student design space. The overhaul created accessible spaces, updated lighting, and the incorporated a new teaching and gallery space. Also featured were lectures from Eric Schultz, ASLA, principal of award-winning landscape architecture studio, dwg., and Kona Gray, FASLA, principal of international landscape architecture and planning firm, EDSA.
"WreckShop gives students a chance to network and collaborate with industry leaders while learning about opportunities for future internships and jobs,” said Jared Horsford, SASLA Advisor and a Lecturer within Tech's Department of Landscape Architecture. “Students gain the opportunity to meet professionals from firms that are located outside of the region.”
