Research Spotlight: Agricultural Education & Communications’ Irlbeck

Erica Irlbeck, a professor of agricultural communications within Texas Tech's Department of Agricultural Education and Communications, joined the Texas Tech faulty in 2009. Her research areas are in agriculture in television media, communications during food safety crises, and agricultural communications curriculum. Irlbeck teaches various courses at Texas Tech, mostly in video production and strategic communications.
Recent honors for Irlbeck include the USDA National Teaching & Student Engagement Award (2021), Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching Award (2020), Texas Tech President's Excellence in Teaching Award (2018); Association for Communications Excellence Award of Excellence-Academic Programs Learning Community (2016); and the Non-Land-Grant Agricultural and Renewable Resources Universities' Young Educator Award (2015). Her doctorate in agricultural education is from Texas Tech.
