Sixty-one top Davis College students receive Dean's Scholars Awards

Top academic standouts from Texas Tech's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences &
Natural Resources were recognized as Dean's Scholars on Friday (Feb. 24) at the academic unit's historic Dairy Barn. The awards, funded by various donations
to the college, are based on academic excellence as well as leadership, character
and citizenship.
The scholarships were established by the college to reward academic excellence and
to support outstanding students who choose e to major in agricultural and natural
sciences, said Davis College Dean Clint Krehbiel. The awards are based on entrance examination scores and standing in high school
graduating class.
The Gold Award winners are:
- Hannah Belinne, a senior natural resources management major from Houston
- Carys Blackmon, a sophomore animal science major from Austin
- Layne Burnett, a junior agricultural communications major from Carpenter, Wyoming
- Benjamin Carpenter, a senior food science major from Sugar Land
- Audrey Crawford, a junior natural resources management major from Lubbock
- Grace Dean, a senior natural resources management major from Arlington
- Jaron Dioquino, a sophomore animal science major from Missouri City
- Riley Finney, a senior animal science major from Brashear
- Harvey Emma Harvey, a junior animal science major from Schertz
- Allie Herring, a senior ag communications/ag business major from Franklin
- Laura Munoz, a senior animal science major from San Antonio
- Yasmim Freire De Mendonca Saes, a senior animal science major from Carrollton

The Gold Award scholarship is a $14,400 ($3,600 per year for four years) and requires a minimum SAT score of 1,420 or ACT score of 32 and must be in the top 10 percent of graduating class. The Silver Award scholarship is a $9,600 ($2,400 per year for four years) and requires a minimum SAT score of 1,340 or ACT score of 30, and must be in the top 25 percent of graduating class.
