Academic unit wellbeing funding supports Davis College improvements

As the new semester gets underway, Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural
Resources leaders announced this week a series of upgrades to several student-related
areas thanks to new ‘Academic Unit Wellbeing & Success Funding Program' from Texas
Tech University's Office of the Provost - Faculty Success.
“We're delighted to be able to support Davis College in this opportunity for wellbeing
and success,” said Genevieve Durham DeCesaro, Texas Tech's Vice Provost for Faculty Success. The enhancements include improved
seating areas, new large-format computer informational monitors, and mental health
first aid trainings for students, said Davis College Dean Clint Krehbiel.
Among the project underway are:
- Department of Landscape Architecture ($10,000) Six moveable bistro tables and 18 moveable chairs were added to the CASNR Annex Courtyard to improve the well-being of our community. Future plans for the Davis College Annex Courtyard call for the addition of a shade structure and plants. (Note: $1,500 additional support came from the Landscape Architecture Fund for Excellence)
- Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics ($7,070) Upgrade student lounge in Agricultural Science Building (Room 313). Improvements include 10 faux leather chairs and three leather lounge chairs with tablet arms
- Department of Natural Resources Management ($6,700) Approved items were replacement of chairs in Davis College Annex 123; addition of large computer monitors and seating area furniture in Goddard Building 204; addition of seating area furniture in PSS 261; and additional seating area furniture on second floor of PSS atrium bridge
- Davis College Dean's Office ($2,250) Support for mental health first aid training facilitated by Davis College faculty and staff who have completed the MHFA Instructor Certification course
- Department of Plant & Soil Science($2,000) Travel for one professor and six students to the American Society for Horticultural Sciences annual conference in Orlando, Florida
