By: Norman Martin
Barry Street, a 1979 graduate of Texas Tech University's Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics, has been selected to receive the Texas Tech Alumni Association's (TTAA) prestigious Lauro F. Cavazos Award, which was named in honor of the former Texas Tech president. The honor will be presented at a Matador Evening Homecoming Celebration on Friday (Oct. 13) at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center.
According to the TTAA website, the award is designed to recognize and honor individuals or couples who have made significant contributions to Texas Tech and the Alumni Association through individual efforts, public recognition and/or financial support. Recipients of the award have made a positive impact on the university through their generosity, professional accomplishments and acts of service.
“I am very humbled to receive this award, especially when I read the names of those who have received it before me,” Street said. “Many of them were my mentors.”
Street is a Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources' Distinguished Alumni recipient (2022) and winner of the college's Gerald W. Thomas Outstanding Agriculturalist Award (2022).
