By: Norman Martin
Three standout students from Texas Tech's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources are set to attend the 96th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Running from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4, the students will be able to attend general sessions and competitive events, in addition to working in the college's and Agricultural Consortium of Texas booths.
“It's important for our students to attend recruitment events like National FFA to not only bring recognition to our college and university, but also visit with prospective students about why they chose Davis College,” said Davis College Program Manager for Recruitment Jeremiah Neal. “It's a great leadership and professional development experience for our students.”
Davis College students attending the national event are:
- Jaraden Kearby, a junior agricultural and applied economics major form San Angelo, Texas
- Lance Nicholas, a sophomore agricultural education (teacher certification) major form Katy, Texas
- Daniel Wilde, senior natural resources and ranch management major from Jacksonville, Texas
According to the national FFA website, the FFA Convention & Expo is among the nation's largest annual gathering of students. Participants can explore career and educational opportunities from more than 450 industry-leading exhibitors at the Expo and participate in hundreds of education workshops and tours. Primary event venues include Lucas Oil Stadium, Indiana Convention Center, and the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
