Research Spotlight: Department of Plant & Soil Science’s Lindsey Slaughter
By: Norman Martin
Lindsey Slaughter, an Associate Professor of Soil Microbial Ecology/Biochemistry within the Department of Plant & Soil Science, joined the Texas Tech faculty in 2016. Her research program broadly focuses on how soil microbial community structure, function, and interactions with other biota affect and are affected by environmental disturbance. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses in soil microbial ecology and biochemistry.
In addition, Slaughters research group employs methods which assess carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions, microbial biomass and community structure, and delivery of critical ecosystem services such as decomposition and nutrient cycling. Her doctorate in soil science is from the University of Kentucky.
