By: Linay Williams
Matt Williams has been named Senior Director of Development for Texas Tech University's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. He will officially step into his new position on Monday (Jan. 15).
“I want to thank Dr. Krehbiel, Byron Kennedy and Kris Wood for the opportunity to lead the Davis College Development Team,” Williams said. “I consider it an honor and responsibility to cultivate the successes of the Davis College Development Office."
“In this role, I am looking forward to continuing to build great relationships with the agriculture industry and will focus on connecting alumni, donors, and friends to impact opportunities within the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources and Texas Tech University,” he said.
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for raising funds for scholarship and program support, as well as facilities and research efforts within the college. In addition, part of Davis College's Office of Development and Alumni Relations mission is to help individuals stay connected, informed, and involved with the Davis College community, whether that person earned an undergraduate or graduate degree, are the parent of a current student, or are simply interested in the mission of the college.
“We are excited for Matt to step into the leadership role for development in Davis College. Matt brings a wealth of experience in addition to a keen understanding of our stakeholders and culture. The transition of Matt into this position will be seamless and allow us to continue the excellent momentum for Davis College,” said Davis College Dean Clint Krehbiel.
Williams graduated from Texas Tech in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. He then served as the Trade and Business Development Lead Field Representative for Texas Department of Agriculture for 18 years. In 2017, Williams returned to Texas Tech to serve as the Assistant Director for Development in the Davis College.
“I appreciate the leadership and mentorship that I gained from previous senior directors and will challenge myself to continue the tradition of excellence,” said Williams.
