By: Norman Martin
Tyler Schuster has been named an Assistant Director of Development within Texas Tech Universitys Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Development & External Relations Office, program officials announced this week. She steps into her new position on Jun. 1.
“I am incredibly excited to embark on this new chapter of my career at Texas Tech University,” said Schuster. “The opportunity to collaborate with the exceptional staff and faculty here is truly inspiring. I look forward to contributing to the creation of meaningful opportunities for students and being a part of this community.”
One of her primary goals within Davis College is to increase alumni and corporate engagement in order to build on the fundraising momentum for the college, said Matt Williams, Davis Colleges Senior Director of Development. Part the offices mission is to help individuals stay connected, informed, and involved with the Davis College community, whether that person earned an undergraduate or graduate degree, are the parent of a current student, or are simply interested in the mission of the college.
“The Davis College development team is excited to welcome Tyler as its newest member,” Williams said. “She brings a great work ethic, knowledge of the ag industry and a willingness to create new fundraising opportunities.”
A fifth-generation rancher from Brackettville, Schuster received her bachelors degree in agricultural services and development from Tarleton State University and a masters degree in public service and administration from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining the Texas Tech development staff, she served as the Manager of Leadership Development for Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association in Fort Worth. In addition to her role at TSCRA, she is also the founder and host of the podcast Basically Famous.
Earlier Schuster led organizational efforts to prepare and educate the next generation of cattle raisers. One of her major TSCRA projects was a youth program that allowed the next generation of ag producers the opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of the cattle industry and its processes from pasture to plate.
In addition to Schuster and Williams, the colleges Development & External Relations office now includes Shelbey Havens, Assistant Director of Development; Tracee Murph, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations; Peggy Espinoza-Horn, Business Manager; and Sydney Taylor-Ballard, Administrative & Communications Coordinator.
