Seven standout students from Texas Tech's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources are set to attend the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Running from Oct. 23 to Oct. 26, the students will be able to attend general sessions and competitive events, in addition to working in the college's and Agricultural Consortium of Texas booths.
"It is a great time for the students to meet and inspire those from all over the world,” said Program Manager for Recruitment Jeremiah Neal. “The little time spent here amounts to so much.”
Davis College students attending the national event are:
- Katie Cooley, a junior agricultural education major from Gilmer
- Kaylee Hopkins, a sophomore agricultural education major from Aledo
- Sydny Jones, a junior natural resources management major from Avoca
- Lance Nicholas, a junior agricultural education major from Brookshire
- Gage Owen, a sophomore animal science major from Sonora
- Jackson Sylvester, a junior agricultural education major from Felton, Delaware
- Daniel Wilde, a senior natural resources management major from Jacksonville
Program officials note that the FFA Convention & Expo is the nation's largest annual gathering of students. Participants can explore career and educational opportunities from more than 450 industry-leading exhibitors at the Expo and participate in hundreds of education workshops and tours. Primary event venues include Lucas Oil Stadium (above), Indiana Convention Center, and the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
