Maeley Stroupe has been named Assistant Director for Student Success & Retention in Texas Tech's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, college officials announced this month. She will be based in Davis College's Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center, joining a group of professionals in the Davis College Dean's Office charged with recruiting and retaining the best students for the college.
“I am grateful and excited to take on this new role of helping lead efforts in our Davis College Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center,” Stroupe said. “Our team is an amazing resource for Davis College students, and we are dedicated to growing and empowering students to be leaders – prepared to take on their future endeavors with integrity, determination and passion.” Prior to taking her new post, she served as Davis College’s Program Manager for Student Retention.
Among her primary duties are supervising the student success and student programs team in Davis College, which includes undergraduate student retention, scholarships and programs. In addition, Stroupe will supervise the planning and organization of student retention activities such as Ag Fest, Winter Welcome, Registration Pop-In Workshops, and the Early Alert Program.
Separately, she will serve as the college’s at-risk student assessment manager, work directly with students that are struggling with coursework, on probation and/or returning from suspension by assisting them in finding university resources, internships and career opportunities.
Prior to joining the Davis College staff in 2022, Stroupe served as a Visitors Center Admissions Counselor with Texas Tech Undergraduate Admissions, and earlier worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Agri-Techsan Co-Advisor within Davis College. The Archer City, Texas native received her bachelor's degree (2020) and master's degree (2024) in agricultural communications, both from Texas Tech.
The Davis College Student Success Center is under the administrative leadership of Associate Dean for Academic & Student Programs Robert Cox. Other members of the Student Success Center include:
- Sandra Addo(2020) Program Manager for Graduate Student Recruitment. In addition, she markets and promotes Davis College graduate programs. In addition, she serves as co-advisor for the Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources & Related Sciences Chapter within Davis College. Prior to joining the Davis College staff, Addo served as an admissions counselor with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Wylie, Texas native received her bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing, and her master's degree in strategic communication and innovation, both from Texas Tech.
- Michael Harper(2022) Program Manager for Davis College Academic Student Programs. He strategically develops policies, procedures, goals, and outcomes for the academic advising office, as well as being responsible for advisors adhering to curriculum requirements. Harper joined Davis College after serving as a program coordinator with Military & Veterans Programs at Texas Tech. The Lubbock native received his bachelor's degree in agricultural communications from Texas Tech.
- Haley Hudson (2022) Program Manager for Davis College Academic Student Programs. She strategically develops policies, procedures, goals, and outcomes for the academic advising office, as well as being responsible for advisors adhering to curriculum requirements. Prior to joining the Davis College staff, Hudson served as export documentation specialist with Plains Cotton Cooperative Association in Lubbock. The Lubbock native received her bachelor's degree in agricultural and applied economics from Texas Tech.
- Jeanette Moya (2023) Student Success Specialist. Her goal is to support, guide and empower students so they can become more confident and self-sufficient, as well as help students find balance in their academic career. Moya joined Davis College after serving as an Instructor of Public Speaking with the Texas Tech Student Engagement Program and earlier working as a teaching assistant in interpersonal communication. The Lubbock native received her bachelor's degree in English and master's degree in mass communications, both from Texas Tech.
- Madi Nall (2021) Program Manager for Scholarships. She oversees scholarship awarding process for the college including entering freshmen, entering transfer and currently enrolled students from application submission to awarding process, as well as manage two university accounts which include maintaining spreadsheets, preparing deposits, purchase orders and other necessary procedures. The Plainview, Texas native received her bachelor's degree in agricultural communications from Texas Tech (2019).
- Jeremiah Neal (2023) Program Manager for Recruitment. His primary duties include coordinating correspondence to high school prospective students and transfer students, as well as working closely with Tech’s Office of Admissions in maintaining high quality standards for recruitment protocol. He is also responsible for coordinating Davis College activities and participation at university-hosted recruitment events and Agri-Techsans supervision. His bachelor's degree (2022) in agricultural communications and master's degree (2024) in agricultural education, both from Texas Tech.
- Lindsay O’Pry(2024) Assistant Director for Recruiting. Her primary duties include serving as the team leader for undergraduate student recruitment efforts, as well as developing, implementing and maintaining a strategic student recruitment plan for Davis College. She’ll also be responsible for planning and conducting Red Raider Orientation, and managing the Davis College Visitor Center. O’Pry received her bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Texas Tech (2011) and her master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas (2017) in Houston.
The Dr. Bill Bennett Student Success Center is named for long-time member of the Department of Plant and Soil Science's emeritus faculty Bill Bennett. Bennett joined the Texas Tech faculty in 1968 and was a trailblazer in raising money for scholarships to increase recruitment of students, in addition to spearheading creation of the college's Ambassadors for Agriculture and Agri-Techsans programs.
