The Tech 10 consists of students chosen based on their commitment to four cornerstone principles of Red Raider Spirit: academic excellence, campus leadership, service and striving for honor. Texas Tech’s Office of Student Life and the Office of Academic Innovation & Student Success created the recognition in 2023.

“This is a tremendous honor for both Jaraden and Davis College,” said Darren Hudson, Davis College Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives & Assessment and the Larry Combest Endowed Chair for Agricultural Competitiveness in the Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics. “The award speaks to her outstanding dedication to Davis College and Texas Tech.”

“Davis College is committed to excellence in education, and we strive to provide opportunities for our students to grow as outstanding future leaders,” he said. “Jaraden is a prime example of someone who makes the most of those opportunities. We are very proud for her in winning this distinction.”

The Tech 10 are chosen based on an application process that began in March. From those submissions, a smaller group is selected for 20-minute interviews with a panel of judges that then makes final selections. This year’s group boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.8.

Texas Tech Provost Ron Hendrick noted, “Our Tech 10 students exemplify the very best of what it means to be part of the Red Raider community. Through their commitment to academic excellence, leadership on campus and a dedication to service, they remind us that honor is not just an aspiration – it’s a way of life.”

Kearby is an active member of the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources community, serving in President’s Select, Agri-Techsans, Ambassadors for Agriculture, Student Agriculture Council, Agriculture Future of America, Alpha Lambda Delta Collegiate Honor Society, and Collegiate Cattlemen’s Association.

“Jaraden represents the very best of what it means to be a Davis College student—she leads with integrity, excels in the classroom, and consistently uplifts those around her,” said Maeley Stroupe, Davis College Assistant Director for Student Success & Retention.

“Her selection to the Tech 10 is a reflection of her character, work ethic, and the legacy she leaves for future generations of students,” she said.  “I am incredibly proud of Jaraden and look forward to the many ways she will continue to make an impact in the agricultural industry and beyond.”

Following her expected graduation this month, Kearby plans to continue working full time with Capital Farm Credit in Lubbock as an Office & Loan Administrator. In addition, she will be completing her online masters of agribusiness degree from Texas Tech, with plans to graduate in May of 2026.
