Texas Tech University Student Organization achieved success by bringing home three major awards.
The Texas Tech University student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), within the Department of Chemical Engineering, achieved outstanding success at the recent AIChE regional conference in Monterrey, Mexico – bringing home three major awards.
Texas Techs Chemical Engineering Jeopardy team secured first place in the regional competition, demonstrating their exceptional knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. This victory earns them a spot at the AIChE National Student Conference in Boston this fall, where they will compete against the top teams from across the country.
The student organization also shined in the Regional Student Poster Competition, with Gray Podolak earning first place and Andrea Ramirez Hercules securing third. Their outstanding research presentations showcased Texas Techs commitment to innovation and academic excellence.
Reflecting on the teams success, Leeson Weaver, the AIChE president at Texas Tech, stated, “We are so proud of all of our members for their amazing achievements and cant wait to see them continue to dominate at the national competition in Boston this fall!”
This latest achievement adds to the chapters growing list of accolades, emphasizing the dedication of its students, faculty support, and the universitys strength in chemical engineering.
Jeremy Marston, director of Undergraduate Studies and associate professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, also commended the students, saying, “We are extremely proud of all our AIChE students, especially the Jeopardy champions and undergraduate researchers, for their dedication and hard work.”
As the national competition approaches, Texas Techs AIChE chapter is prepared to make an even bigger impact on the national stage.
