Prospective Graduate Students / Research Assistants
Dr. Chan is accepting new graduate students to begin in Fall 2024. Research interests should broadly include family influences on resilience and/or aging processes throughout adulthood. Specific research directions are not limited to the following: stress and resilience, family caregiving, healthy aging, intergenerational relationships, and/or issues related to middle and late adulthood. Prospective students who identify as a first-generation student, an intergenerational student, a racial or ethnic minority, or another unspecified intersectional group are especially encouraged to apply—your identity, research and professional development journey is valued and supported in the PARA lab. If interested, please email your inquiry and CV to Dr. Chan at Athena.Chan@ttu.edu.
Undergraduate Students / Research Assistants
PARA Lab is currently accepting applications for undergraduate research assistant positions. Our team is committed to nurturing undergraduate students with high motivations of contributing to science and eager to engage in projects involving family members in their middle and late adulthood. Under the leadership of Dr. Chan and graduate students, undergraduate team members have diverse opportunities to be involved in literature review, data collection, data analysis, research presentation and writing. Students after training are expected to develop critical thinking skills, presentation skills, and academic writing skills.
Notably, volunteers need to help at least 5 hours per week. Course credit is available for students who work 10 hours per week.
If you are interested in joining the PARA Lab team, please fill out the form below and the lab manager will contact you regarding interests and opportunities.
