Call to Order:

• Superintendent Robert Bayard called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m.
• Quorum established; majority of board members present.

Staff Spotlight:

Professional Development/People First Spotlight: Dr. Still, Vice Provost for Texas Tech University Online.

Dr. Still, who has been at Texas Tech since 2002, introduced himself and talked about how he was not aware of Texas Tech K-12 until coming over to Texas Tech Online several years ago. He is very impressed with what K-12 does and is excited about the future and the possibilities it has. He believes that K-12 can foster enrollment and engagement for Texas Tech University. He talked about the importance of having quality education and branding which Texas Tech University has. Texas Tech is trying to get to 50,000 students and the key to accomplishing that is to find opportunities to foster relationships to make sure the students stay and don’t go elsewhere. He talked about the trend of high school students graduating with an Associate’s Degree and how K-12 can offer dual enrollment classes for their students from Texas Tech and what a great opportunity that is for both K-12 and the University. He said that the University is in on the idea of having K-12 foster the connection with the University and the dual credit classes. He would like to see a higher percentage of K-12 graduates attend Texas Tech, but is impressed by the K-12 team and the changes that are happening.

Superintendent’s Report

• Mission and Vision: Dr. Bayard reviewed the school’s mission and vision to reaffirm goals and ensure alignment with current initiatives.
• Raiderpalooza: Dr. Bayard reported that they had about 50 students attend, which was good considering it was the Wednesday before the big storm. It was a huge success and thanked Dr. Cameron Brown for his amazing session. He talked about the spelling bee being a highlight as well as the science experiments and social studies activities.
• TASA Midwinter Conference: The conference started Sunday but our team didn’t get there until Monday because of the snow storm. However the main session was on Tuesday which they were able to attend. Dr. Bayard talked about his mini executive coaching session and how he was able to show others what executive coaching is all about. TASA is looking to expand their executive coaching. Dr. Bayard felt like the conference was a great way to add to our partnerships with other school districts.
• LinkedIn Presence: Dr. Bayard pointed out that we are now on LinkedIn and asked everyone to please follow us. Everyone will see more stories coming from Texas Tech K-12. He believes it will help us in making more connections and partnerships.

Policy EHDC (Local) - Alternative Methods for Earning Credit: Credit by Examination Without Prior Instruction - 1st Reading:

This policy applies to credit by exam and advanced placement exams. Dr Bayard read through the policy and explained each of the sections for Kindergarten through 12th grade. He then opened it up to any questions. It was suggested that he expand on the criteria section to add a DBA for grades 1-8 to ensure that teachers can monitor the student’s academic progress moving to the next grade level.

TAPR 2025-2026 Presentation:

Keetha Chadwick explained each slide in the presentation. Items that are in bold are what we are required to report on. Our Meets requirements are very good and we scored higher than the state in all areas except for math. She talked about the systems that are being set up to help keep track of the grade levels and how they are doing. The advisors and registrars are working together to help the seniors get 1 point for the CCMR before they get their diplomas. She also mentioned that because we are a Special Purpose District, we are not required to report on certain areas, however, we are still doing the work as if we are required to. She also went through each of the goals of which the Board approved.
