TTU K-12 Senior is National Merit Semi‑Finalist

Grant Taylor, senior, has committed to attend Texas Tech University.

Grant Taylor, a senior and recent transfer to Texas Tech University High School, is a National Merit Semi-finalist and has been awarded a full scholarship to Texas Tech University. He is in the running for Finalist, which will be announced sometime around March of next year.

He is part of the Compass Program in the Texas Tech University Honors College, which introduces academically gifted, intellectually curious, mature, and responsible high school students to the college curriculum at Texas Tech. Grant is hoping to be accepted into the Honors College. He will study engineering and mathematics and possibly minor in Spanish.

Grant was No. 1 in his class at Lubbock Christian High School, with a GPA of 98.7. He scored a 1480 on the PSAT which qualified him as a Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist. He also scored a 35 on the ACT.

Twice, Grant went to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He finished in the top 50 his first year and top 30 his second year.

Grant has committed to attend Texas Tech University in Fall 2021, but he is already taking a few courses.
