An important part of the middle school and high school experience is being involved in student organizations with other students. TTU K-12 administrators understand that, and they have been working diligently to figure out the best ways to offer those experiences virtually.

This summer Texas Tech University Middle School welcomed five students into its newly established National Junior Honor Society.

Chapter advisor, Veronica Stringer, says these kinds of opportunities are especially important for students learning online, to connect and stay connected with classmates.

"We're working now on putting together Student Council for middle school and for high school," she said. "Right now, we're gauging interest and input from students to see how best to go about this."

In January 2019 Texas Tech University High School inducted its first members of National Honor Society with a virtual and on-site ceremony on the Texas Tech campus to honor its inaugural group.
