Let’s review your Word List to get ready for your Spelling Test! Use a blank piece of paper to practice your word list.
Parent/Guardian: To help prepare your students for their test, read the Spelling Word first, and then read the Dictation Sentence. Repeat the word as children write it. Have children correct their spelling if needed.
DICTATION SENTENCES
BASIC
- sad: The opposite of happy is sad.
- bit: He bit into a cracker.
- jam: I like jam on toast.
- glad: She is glad Grandma is here.
- list: Write your words in a list.
- win: Will the team win the game?
- flat: The car had a flat tire.
- if: I’ll miss you if you go away.
- fix: Mom can fix my broken bike.
- rip: She has a rip in her pants.
- kit: I made a model car from a kit.
- mask: He wore a mask to the party.
REVIEW
- as: I’m not as tall as he is.
- his: The new car was his.
- clap: The baby can clap her hands.
- chip: Jim ate a veggie chip.
CHALLENGE
- picnic: We had a picnic in the park.
- sandwich: She ate a sandwich.
