Generative Vocabulary: Adjectives

Vocabulary card titled Words That Describe People, Places, Things. Adjectives are words that describe people, places, or things. Beside a photo of a red flower with drops of water on it are the following: looks red, smells sweet, feels damp. Adjectives can show what someone or something is like or how they act. Lin is always polite. Use a dictionary to find the meaning of adjectives. Examples: sight: shiny, thin; hearing: noisy, squeaky; smell: fresh, rotten; touch: fuzzy, sharp; taste: sour, juicy; acts or like: sleepy, excited.

Adjectives are used to describe people, places, and things. You can use your senses to think of words to describe things. Adjectives can also be used to tell how someone or something acts.

For example: Lin is always polite. Polite is an adjective.

You can use a dictionary to find the meaning of adjectives.
