Let’s review your Word List to get ready for your Spelling Test! Use a blank piece of paper to practice your word list.
Parent/Guardian: To help prepare your students for their test, read the Spelling Word first, and then read the Dictation Sentence. Repeat the word as children write it. Have children correct their spelling if needed.
DICTATION SENTENCES
BASIC
- yes: The opposite of no is yes.
- job: My job is to do the dishes.
- hug: Mom gave me a hug.
- rest: The tired boy will rest now.
- frog: A frog can hop.
- hum: Hum the song with me.
- left: The opposite of right is left.
- melt: The ice will melt in the heat.
- plum: The plum is ripe and juicy.
- shut: The door was shut, not open.
- net: She caught a fish in the net.
- dot: A period looks like a dot.
REVIEW
- glad: She is glad Grandma is here.
- fix: Mom can fix my broken bike.
- jam: I like jam on toast.
- list: Write your words in a list.
CHALLENGE
- puddle: Ducks splash in a puddle.
- helmet: A biker wears a helmet.
