Let’s review your Word List to get ready for your Spelling Test! Use a blank piece of paper to practice your word list.
Parent/Guardian: To help prepare your students for their test, read the Spelling Word first, and then read the Dictation Sentence. Repeat the word as children write it. Have children correct their spelling if needed.
DICTATION SENTENCES
BASIC
- cake: Dad makes delicious cake.
- mine: That book is mine, not yours.
- plate: Eat the food on your plate.
- size: What size is your shirt?
- ate: She ate a salad for lunch.
- grape: The grape is purple.
- prize: He won first prize.
- wipe: Wipe your face with a towel.
- race: She won the bike race.
- line: We stood in a line to get in.
- pile: He washed the pile of laundry.
- rake: We rake leaves in fall.
REVIEW
- win: Will the team win the game?
- flat: The car had a flat tire.
- rip: She has a rip in her pants.
- if: I’ll miss you if you go away.
CHALLENGE
- mistake: I made a mistake.
- guide: The guide gave us a tour.
