STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION ANNUAL FUNDING
Purpose
One of the purposes of the Student Senate Committee on Budget and Finance is to administer the allocation of a portion of Student Service Fees received by the Student Government Association specifically for student organizations. These funds are budgeted by the University to be utilized for nonacademic programs and services for students. The Student Service Fee Committee is comprised of approximately five members from the Student Senate and four staff members within the University.
The Committee on Budget and Finance has strict rules and policies by which we operate. These rules can be found in the SGA Funding Regulations Handbook.

To schedule an appointment. Fill out the required information. A confirmation code will be sent to your phone and email provided previously. As your Funding Interview nears you will receive SMS updates. If you need to cancel, reschedule, or view the date and time of your appointment, you can do so by following the link provided in an email confirmation.

September 3, 2024 ~~ Funding Request Process Begins at 8:00 a.m.
October 31, 2024 ~~ Funding Contract & Budget Application due at 5:00pm (WITHOUT PENALTY)
November 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024 ~~ 20% PENALTY from the allocation decided upon by the Budget & Finance Committee.

Funding Interview signup starts on December 2, 2024 to December 31, 2024. After completion of the Funding Contract and Budget Application sign up for an interview.

STUDENT GOV SERVICES – CORE VALUES FUNDING
Student Services provides a fund for student organizations programming that supports the strategic priorities of Texas Tech University and its core values:
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
1. INCREASE ENROLLMENT AND PROMOTE STUDENT SUCCESS: We will grow our student populations' skill-set and global IQ to improve higher education participation and supply a well-equipped, educated workforce for the state of Texas.
2. STRENGTHEN ACADEMIC QUALITY AND REPUTATION: We will attract and retain the best faculty in the world to enhance our teaching excellence and grow our number of nationally recognized programs.
3. EXPAND AND ENHANCE RESEARCH AND CREATIVE SCHOLARSHIP: We will significantly increase the amount of public and private research dollars to advance knowledge, improve the quality of life in our state and nation, and enhance the state's economy and global competitiveness.
4. FURTHER OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT: We will expand our community outreach, promote higher education, and continue to engage in partnerships to improve our communities and enrich their quality of life.
- INCREASE AND MAXIMIZE RESOURCES: We will increase funding for scholarships, professorships, and world-class facilities, and maximize those investments through more efficient operations to ensure affordability for students and accountability to the State of Texas.

Student Organizations Funding Proposal Requirements
- Request proposals must describe the event, date, locations, amount requested, target audience and marketing plan, budget, and list of other funding and fundraising activities to support the event/program. Also, describe how the event/program supports at least one of the Strategic Priorities and/or Core Values of Texas Tech University.
- Must be a registered student organization.
- Registered student organizations must be in good standing with the University.
- Requests must be for events/programs open to all students and held on the Texas Tech campus or authorized site.
- Request must be received 14 days prior to the event/program to be considered for funding.
- The maximum amount to be allotted to any organization for funding will usually be $500.00 annually. Collaborative events hosted by at least different organizations and large-scale campus-wide events may submit requests for additional support beyond the standard limit.
- Request for organization travel will be considered.
- An event report must be submitted within two weeks after the program/event.
- Organizations making large-scale events and/or travel requests will be required to do a brief presentation in addition to the event report.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT - STUDENT ORGANIZATION SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING
The Office of Student Involvement has a small endowment of funds set aside to annually support student organizations that need additional funding support and has exhausted all the following options:
- Received and used their allotted funding from the Student Government Association Annual Funding Process.
- Received and used all designated Core Values Funding
Please know this funding is for a maximum of $1,000.
Steps to Submitting an Office of Student Involvement Funding Request:
- Sign into TechConnect
- Go to your organizations homepage
- Select “Manage Organization” in the upper right-hand corner
(*NOTE- you must be an organizations executive leader to have this option)
- Select “Finance” from the Organization Tools
- Select “Create Request -> Budget Request”
- Complete the Form!

STUDENT GOVERNMENT SERVICES– INDIVIDUAL STUDENT TRAVEL
Undergraduate and graduate students may request supplemental funding for travel that
supports the mission of the University and pertains to approved developmental conferences
or sanctioned research. This fund has been set up primarily to support students chosen
to attend as a representative, present at a conference, or travel for research. Only
travel expenses may be covered with this fund, no physical materials or items may
be purchased. Entire trips will not cover, so identify other funding sources. Normally
awards will cover up to 50% of any trip. You are required to upload information about
the conference containing contact information like a website, so the purpose of travel
can be confirmed. Requests without contact information for the conference will be
denied.
Multiple requests for the same conference may be denied, priority will be given to
first submissions. Groups and/or students traveling to the same conference should submit "Core Values"
request.
