BASICS
BASICS is an individualized alcohol education program offered by RISE. The program includes two one-on-one sessions with a trained facilitator and is designed to help students better understand their alcohol use and make informed decisions that support their health, well-being and academic success.
The cost to complete BASICS is $150.
BASICS may be assigned as a sanction through the Office of Student Conduct. If you were referred to BASICS, review your Student Conduct letter before scheduling your appointment.
What to Expect
BASICS consists of two individual sessions with a trained facilitator. The program provides personalized education about alcohol use and its potential effects while helping you identify strategies that support your goals.
Sessions may include discussion of:
- Alcohol use and personal patterns
- Effects of alcohol on health and well-being
- Alcohol and academic success
- Strategies for reducing risk and potential negative consequences
- Personal goals and decision-making
- Campus and community resources
BASICS is educational and individualized. The goal is to provide information and strategies that can help you make safer, healthier choices.
Schedule BASICS
RISE schedules BASICS through its alcohol coaching appointment system. When scheduling:
- Select an alcohol coaching session.
- Complete the intake form.
- Indicate on the intake form that you are required to complete two BASICS sessions.

Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. No-shows and cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment are subject to a $25 fee.
