Sexual Health Peer Educator Tabling

Monday, February 27th | 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. | Between the SUB and the Library

Peer Educators will focus on sexual health issues and misconceptions in this educational tabling between the SUB and the library. This tabling will offer educational information on sexual health and debunk any myths about sexual health that students may have. 

Peer Educator Interest Meeting Three

Wednesday, March 1st | 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. | Drane 249

Students interested in becoming RISE Peer Educators can attend this meeting at Drane 249 and learn more about the perks of being a Peer Educator and how they make a difference and help their peers and the Texas Tech Community. 

Alcohol and Other Drugs Peer Educator Tabling

Monday, March 6th | 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. | Between the SUB and the Library

In this educational tabling, students can learn about alcohol and other drug safety from trained RISE Peer Educators. Information and resources about the use of alcohol and other drugs will be provided. 

Accessible Online Mental Health and Diversity Week Peer Educator Tabling

Monday, March 20th | 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. | Between the SUB and the Library

Peer Educators will offer accessible online mental health and discuss Diversity Week in this educational tabling. Students will be able to gather information regarding accessible online mental health and gain a better understanding of what diversity means.

Tuesday, March 21st | 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. | SUB Foyer/Food Court

Students can attend this free and educational event to learn about mental health resources and apps. Students who download mental health apps can receive donuts and juice.

Join RISE in creating your own tie dye shirt to celebrate diversity week!

Students can attend this free and educational event to learn about mental health resources and apps. Students who download mental health apps can receive donuts and juice.

Pre-Registration Fair

Wednesday, March 23rd | 11:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. | SUB Ballroom

Students can attend this one-stop shop to make a plan to resolve holds, explore major and minor options, and schedule a future appointment with an academic advisor. Stop by RISE's table to get resources to get wellness and academic resources. 

Feed Your Body and Soul Peer Educator Tabling

Monday, March 27th | 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. | Between the SUB and the Library

In this educational tabling, Peer Educators will educate students about healthy body image and eating disorders. Peer Educators will also discuss the events happening during Feed Your Body and Soul Week and how students can get involved. 

Clothesline Project Exhibit

Monday, March 27th - Friday, April 14th | M-F, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sat. 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sun. 12:00 P.M. – 4 P.M. | South Gallery in Art Building

The  Clothesline Project (CLP) is a project that began on Cape Cod, MA, in 1990 to address the issue of power-based violence. Through this exhibition is an unprecedented way of educating others on power. The colors of the shirts differentiate the multiple forms of violence to turn statistics into shirts. The movement gives a voice to those who have been silenced, sending the message that help is available and there is a path to healing. 

HPV/STI Clinic 

Friday, March 31st | 10:00 A.M. - 3 P.M. | SUB Matador Room 

Join RISE and the City of Lubbock Health Department for this testing and vaccine clinic. STI and HPV tests will be available to students, and hepatitis B and shingles vaccines are offered for staff and faculty. Participants must bring their insurance card but will be helped regardless of status. To receive results, participants will visit the City of Lubbock Health Department clinic.

Elizabeth Smart – Guest Speaker  

Friday, March 31st | 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. |SUB Ballroom

As a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Title IX welcomes Elizabeth Smart, former abductee and sexual assault survivor, to speak about her journey. Women & Gender Studies, Office of LGBTQIA Education & Engagement, and RISE will provide resources.
