RISE offers presentations and interactive workshops designed to help Texas Tech students build skills, make informed decisions and connect with campus resources. Programs are available for classes, student organizations, departments and other campus groups.

Topics include mental health and stress management, alcohol and other drugs, sexual health and consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention and campus safety.

A Guide to Managing Stress

Available in 30-, 50- and 90-minute formats.

This presentation helps students understand how stress affects the mind and body and introduces practical strategies for managing stress and supporting overall well-being.

This extended presentation combines alcohol and drug education for groups seeking a broader overview of substance use, potential risks and available support.

Topics draw from the Alcohol Education and Drug Education programs and can include substance effects, risk reduction, emergency response and campus resources.

A Guide to Being an Active Bystander

This presentation helps participants recognize situations where someone may need help and identify safe, practical ways to intervene.

Healthy Relationships

This workshop explores characteristics of healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships and provides practical strategies for communication, boundaries and supporting others.

Topics may include:

  • Healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors
  • Communication and boundaries
  • Power and control
  • Warning signs of abuse
  • Supporting a friend
  • Campus resources

Escalation

This workshop examines how unhealthy relationship behaviors can escalate into dating violence.

Content warning: This workshop contains sensitive material, including depictions of relationship violence and homicide.

Participants will:

  • Recognize warning signs of dating violence and abusive behavior
  • Explore how abuse can escalate over time
  • Consider the emotional, social and safety impacts of dating violence
  • Learn strategies for supporting someone who may be experiencing abuse

Fight Night

Available in 30- and 50-minute formats.

Fight Night explores group pressure to participate in unhealthy behaviors and ways to support a friend who may be experiencing pressure or an unhealthy relationship.

Participants will:

Campus Safety & Resources

A Guide to Campus Safety & Resources

Also known as RISE 101. Available in 30-, 50- and 90-minute formats.

RISE 101 introduces students to several areas of health, safety and well-being while connecting them with resources available across Texas Tech.

Topics may include:

  • Sexual health, contraception and STIs
  • Alcohol education and risk reduction
  • Consent
  • Sexual misconduct support and reporting resources
  • Bystander intervention
  • Mental health and wellness
  • Campus support resources

RISE presentations and workshops can be requested by Texas Tech classes, student organizations, departments and other campus groups.

Before You Submit a Request

  • Submit your request at least two weeks before your preferred program date.
  • Submitting a request does not guarantee that RISE will be available.
  • A RISE team member will contact you after reviewing the request to confirm program details.
  • Requesters must review and acknowledge the RISE Program Request Terms & Conditions.
  • Program availability may depend on staffing, audience size, requested topic and scheduling.

RISE can also participate in campus events through resource tables and provide educational materials for student groups, departments and other campus partners.

If you are hosting an event and would like RISE to provide prevention education, wellness information or campus resource materials, submit a program request and select the appropriate tabling or outreach option.

Educational Materials & Goodie Bags

Community Advisors, faculty, staff, departments and organizations may request educational materials from RISE for students. Available materials depend on current inventory.

Material requests should be submitted at least one week before pickup. Requests are intended for student education and outreach rather than individual promotional-item requests.
