Why Does Government Grow? A Public Event Thursday, April 30, 2015 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Cost: Free and Open to the Public
Description: The U.S government has grown in size, scope, and power during the past century, but how did this transformation come about? What have been the consequences of this process? Are there ways to slow (or reverse) its evolution? Join the Free Market Institute and the Institute for the Study of Western Civilization as they host Robert Higgs, Senior Fellow in Political Economy at Independent Institute, for a public even titled, "Crisis and Leviathan." Dr. Higgs will offer formal remarks in the Grand Auditorium (RM 105 on the first floor of the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration on Thursday, April 30, 2015 starting at 5:30 PM. Following Dr. Higgs' remarks, Dr Tevi Troy, president at American Health Policy Institute will offer commentary on Dr. Higgs' work and his formal remarks for the program. A Q&A period will follow before the program's conclusion at 7:00 PM. All members of the Texas Tech University community and the general public are invited to attend this event.
