Campus Safety

Texas Tech University

We have implemented a number of measures to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff.

Texas Tech Police Department

The Texas Tech Police Department has officers patrolling campus at all times. Officers on bikes and foot patrol buildings and sidewalks.

The Police Department also offers a number of programs to prevent crimes on campus.

Officers can discuss safety topics such as theft prevention, alcohol awareness, residential security and storm readiness.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus crime statistics, campus crime prevention programs, university resources, and policies and procedures for when crimes occur.

Secured Buildings

Uniformed guards patrol and open all academic buildings for classes in the mornings.

Blue Phones

The blue light means safety.

Texas Tech provides 120 blue phones on campus. These phones offer a direct line to the Texas Tech Police Department. At night, blue lights mounted on top of the phones make them easy to locate.

Shuttles

Texas Tech Student Government Association contracts with Lubbock Citibus to provide shuttle bus service on campus and designated areas off campus during weekdays. Evening shuttle services are provided as well.

Emergency Alert System

TechAlert! is Texas Tech's official emergency alert notification system. Within minutes of an emergency such as severe weather or a school closure, the system sends information via email, text message and phone call.

Make sure your information is entered correctly in the system.
