CASNR career center sparkles with new staff
Texas Tech University's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources shook up its Agricultural Recruitment and Career Center last fall, adding three new professionals.
The center is now led by Steve Fraze (right), a longtime professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications and the newly named recruitment and career center interim director. Other new additions are Lori Dudley, Coordinator of Student Development, and Rachel Bobbitt, Coordinator of Student Programs.
"I'm fortunate to have the opportunity to help the college grow," Fraze said.
Non-Traditional Students. His recruiting emphasis will be on of non-traditional students without compromising the college's current recruitment focus. Among his goals are to match the university's master growth plan, which calls for an additional 600 students beyond the current enrollment of about 1,400 by 2020.
Fraze, who is a native of Dora, NM, earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Lubbock Christian College and a master's degree along with a teaching certificate from Texas Tech. He received his doctorate degree from Texas A&M University.
Dudley, the newest addition to the recruitment and career center, will be working toward recruiting students with a focus on community and junior college transfer students. In addition, she will be aid in retention efforts of current students.
Enrollment & Retention. One effective way to increase enrollment and retention lies in assisting current students to become more involved in CASNR organizations, she said.
Dudley received her bachelor's degree in agricultural and applied economics from Texas Tech. Prior to joining CASNR; she worked for five years with Tech's Information Technology Division "" Technology Support. She will serve as staff advisor to Tech's Agricultural Ambassadors organization.
Meanwhile, Bobbitt, who joined the to the recruitment and career center last summer, will be targeting high-quality students to join the college. "I want to help each of them find the career path best suited for them," she said."
Bobbitt earned her bachelor's degree in agricultural communications from Oklahoma State University and her master's degree in agricultural education from Texas Tech. She will serve as an advisor for Tech's Agri-Techsan organization. The Agri-Techsans are tasked with assisting prospective Tech students.
