Three CASNR professors promoted by Tech Board of Regents
Three College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources faculty members were singled out for advancement by the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents during their March 7 meeting in El Paso.
Gad Perry (top) with the Department of Natural Resources Management and Charles Klein with the Department of Landscape Architecture received tenure and a promotion to associate professor, while David Doerfert with the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications received tenure.Contributions. Tenure is a status granted after a trial period to a professor that acknowledges their contributions to the teaching and research mission of the university. The promotions will be effective Sept. 8, while the tenure is effective immediately.
Perry, who joined Tech in 2002, has focused his research on Conservation Biology, including invasive species, horned lizard biology, foraging behavior and urban ecology. He is currently associate editor for the Journal of Herpetology. Perry received bachelor's and master's degrees from Tel Aviv University, and his doctorate from the University of Texas-Austin.
Teaching Mission. Klein, who joined Tech in 2002, previously served as director in the landscape architecture division of Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, a Baltimore-based consulting engineering group. He also led his own landscape architecture firm, and was owner of Treeland Nurseries, Inc., in Frederick, Maryland. Klein received a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from West Virginia University and a master's degree in landscape architecture from Morgan State University.
Doerfert, who joined Tech in 2002, previously served as team leader in the education division of the National FFA Organization in Indianapolis, and an assistant professor in Iowa State University's Department of Agricultural Education and Studies. Doerfert received a bachelor's degree in agricultural education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. His master's degree and doctorate in agricultural education are from Ohio State University.
