In addition, the department's horticulture major has been expanded to become horticulture
and turfgrass sciences. According to officials, the changes were made to ensure that
the majors were up-to-date, relevant and more appealing to prospective students.
Five Areas. Students in environmental crop and soil sciences can choose to focus their studies
in one of five areas. They are crop biotechnology, crop protection, cropping systems
management, forages and grazing systems, and soil and water science.
Those individuals majoring in horticulture and turfgrass sciences can also select
among five focal areas. They are biotechnology, environmental horticulture, horticulture
science, plant protection and turfgrass science.
