Reception scheduled Aug. 16 at nursery, landscape expo
Texas Tech University's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will hold an alumni and friends reception in conjunction with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association Expo 2008 on Aug. 16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. Sponsored by CASNR's Development and Alumni Relations office, the program will run from 4 to 5 p.m.
Green Industry. According to officials, the nursery/landscape expo is recognized by Tradeshow Week magazine as one of the nation's top 200 largest trade shows. At the event greenline, hardline and service companies serving growers, landscape contractors, retail nurseries and a wide variety of grounds and landscape management professionals will gather to find out what's new this season.
The Texas Nursery and Landscape Association is a trade association representing many segments of the green industry in Texas. Members include growers, landscape contractors, retail nursery, and allied green industry businesses.
Convention Center. The George R. Brown Convention Center at 1001 Avenida de las Americas opened on the east side of downtown Houston in 1987. At 1.8 million gross square feet, it ranks among the 10 largest convention centers in the nation.
The center was named for the late Houston entrepreneur and philanthropist George R. Brown. Brown's Texas Eastern Corp. donated six of the 11 blocks required to build the sprawling convention center.
