After what seemed like the shortest summer break ever, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources' students are heading back to school in just a few weeks. A number of activities for returning students are on tap, including a triumph of tradition known as Ag Fest and the always yummy annual homecoming breakfast.
Among the events in the coming two months are:"Aug. 18: Faculty on duty"Aug. 21-22: Registration"Aug. 25: First class day "Aug. 28: Ag Fest, Animal and Food Sciences Courtyard, 5:00 p.m."Sept. 16: Career Fair, United Spirit Arena, 1-5:00 pm"Sept. 1: Labor Day (University Holiday)"Sept. 20: Family Weekend (University of Massachusetts vs. Texas Tech)"Oct. 11: Annual CASNR Homecoming Breakfast, 8:00 a.m., Livestock Arena
Many of these activities are organized or assisted by the staff of the CASNR Development and External Relations, led by Director Jane Piercy, and the CASNR Student Services Office, headed by Director Steve Fraze.
One of the goals of the development and alumni relations office is to enhance, promote and support the academic programs and research efforts of CASNR. Currently, the college has a total endowment of $36 million, as well as 11 endowed chairs and professorships.
Meanwhile, the CASNR Student Services Office is tasked with recruiting and retaining the best students for CASNR. Through a Career Center liaison, the center is also committed to the professional development of the college's students.
