Ritz joins Tech's Agricultural Education and Communications
Rudy Ritz has been named a visiting assistant professor in Texas Tech University's Department of Agricultural Education and Communications, according to officials with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He began his teaching and research duties on Sept. 1.
"Agricultural education has been my life's work," Ritz said. "My hope is that my instruction efforts at the undergraduate level for future agriscience teachers, supported by my fourteen years of high school instruction, will positively impact their pre-service teaching preparation."
Classroom Experience. At Texas Tech, he teaches management of supervised agricultural experience programs, methods of technological change, and agricultural systems management labs.
Prior to joining Texas Tech, Ritz was an agricultural science teacher at Lubbock-Monterey High School, Ralls High School and Menard High School. He also worked as a graduate research assistant and teaching assistant in Texas Tech' agricultural education and communications department.
Teacher Education. A native of Meadow, Ritz received his bachelor's and master's degrees in agricultural education from Texas Tech. He is presently completing his doctorate at Texas Tech. He is a member of the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas.
Awards for Ritz include Texas Tech Agricultural Education and Communications' Outstanding Doctoral Student (2008), and Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas' agricultural science teacher award for teachers working with television media (2004).
