Agri-Techsans win excellence in recruitment, retention award
Members of Texas Tech's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Agri-Techsans recruiting group are this year's winners of the 'Excellence in Recruitment and Retention Award' from the National Agriculture Ambassadors organization. They'll receive their award Jan. 6 at the 2009 National Ag Ambassador Conference in Huntsville.
"It's an honor for our program to be recognized by our peers as the winner of this national award," said Rachel Bobbitt, CASNR's Coordinator of Student Programs and the Agri-Techsan Advisor. "They're an elite group of students who are recognized by our faculty as good role models, and we're proud to have them representing our college."
Innovative Recruiting. In addition to being recognized for its recruiting efforts, the Agri-Techsans will receive a $500 cash prize, a plaque, and the opportunity to present a workshop on the group's proactive and innovative recruiting and retention program at the conference.
This year's Agri-Techsans include:" Rae Buchanan, a junior agricultural communications major from Bastrop" Kelli Chapman, a junior agricultural communications major from Waxahachie" Brittni Drennan, a junior agricultural communications major from Welch" Kelsey Fletcher, a sophomore agricultural communications/agricultural education major from San Antonio" Katie Hancock, a sophomore agricultural communications from Brownfield" Holly Hunnicutt, a sophomore agricultural communications from Aubrey" Ashley Larkin, a sophomore agricultural education major from Houston" Rhea Lynn Leonard, a junior agricultural communications major from Artesia, New Mexico" Dan Patterson, a sophomore agricultural communications from Farwell" Kayln Pearson, a sophomore agricultural communications from Levelland" Kasie Pigg, a senior agricultural communications major from, Pueblo, Colorado" Stephanie Shepard, a senior agricultural and applied economics major from Tuscola" Caitlyn Shumaker, a junior agricultural communications major from Manor" Jennifer Spraberry, a senior agricultural leadership major from Anson" Jamie Voskamp, a senior agricultural leadership major from Rosenberg" Austin Volyes, a senior animal science major from Cotton Center
Red Raider Family. According to Bobbitt, the Agri-Techsans frequently travel throughout the fall semester to high school career days, job fairs, and class and club presentations where they introduce prospective students to Texas Tech's admission requirements, financial aid opportunities and what it's like to be a member of the Red Raider family. Typically, they follow up personally with prospective students early in the spring semester to provide any additional information or assistance.
