By: Norman Martin
Six standout students from Texas Tech University's College of Agricultural Sciences
and Natural Resources are set to attend the 94th National FFA Convention & Expo in
Indianapolis, Indiana. Running from Oct. 27 to Oct. 30, the students will be able
to attend general sessions and competitive events, in addition to working in the college's
and Agricultural Consortium of Texas booths.
“It's important for our students to attend recruitment events like National FFA to
not only bring recognition to our college and university, but also visit with prospective
students about why they chose TTU CASNR,” said CASNR College Recruiter Shelbey Havens. “It's a great leadership and professional development experience for our students.”
CASNR students attending the national event are:
- Wrye Akers, a sophomore agricultural education-leadership major from Abernathy, Texas
- Madelon Clark, junior agricultural communications major from Menard, Texas
- Kylie Farmer, junior agricultural communications major from Chowchilla, California
- Kate Johnson, junior animal science major from Abernathy, Texas
- Ty Mitchell, a sophomore animal science major from Roswell, New Mexico
- Jeremiah Neal, a senior agricultural communications major from Jacksonville, Texas
The theme of this year's National FFA Convention & Expo is all about growing the next generation of leaders. No matter where you are in FFA, participants can expect to find inspiration and direction to become a leader and influencer, ready to make an impact, FFA program officials noted.
