Field Station announced today (Nov. 2) a generous donation from the G. R. White Foundation to provide $1,000 for each student
enrolled in 'NRM 3407: Wildlife Management Techniques' at the TTU Center at Junction
next summer.
“We're grateful to The G. R. White Foundation and their support to our mission to
provide and maintain the single last remaining field-based wildlife techniques course
in the state of Texas,” said Blake Grisham, an associate professor within Tech's Department of Natural Resources Management
and Director of the Llano River Field Station in Junction, Texas.
The Llano River Field Station was established as part of Texas Tech University Center in Junction in 2002 to provide a laboratory and classroom environment for undergraduate and graduate students from numerous universities, institutes, and public schools. The station encourages and supports research of local watershed and riparian habitats.
Grisham said the donation is the direct result of the ‘NRM Fund for Excellence Live Event' in May.
“We appreciate the students, faculty, alumni and the myriad of other stakeholders who donated items to the event to make it happen,” he said. “We look forward to the next fundraising event on April 29, 2022, and sincerely appreciate the G. R. White Foundation and their support for NRM students. We also sincerely appreciate the support and expertise of the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources' Development & Alumni Relations Office."
The 400-acre Llano River Field Station, located some 140 miles west of Austin, is the largest inland field station in Texas. Established in 2002, it provides a laboratory and classroom environment for undergraduate and graduate students from regional universities, institutes and public schools.
Part of station's mission is to encourage, conduct and coordinate basic and applied research projects dealing with water/watersheds, invasive species, range management, natural resources, ecological restoration and environmental education in the Central Texas Hill Country.
